The olympics were always a big deal to me. Watching greg louganis almost break his skull on that diving board and yet walk away with a gold the next day. That performance by Mary lou retton in “84. Ali lighting the cauldron in Atlanta. Ben johnson getting caught. Did zola budd actually trip mary decker.

And then as i grew up, I realised how much we suck at this. A bronze or a silver every games from the 2nd most populous country in the world. Can we please have kabaddi, kho-kho, carrom and cricket in the olympics too? Sigh!

I remember this bet in college that we would actually put a man on the moon before we win an individual gold in the olympics. Thankfully that twerp who bet on our space program has lost.
